Ooo, nice

So I found out that the bands played before Slipknot today will be Machine Head and Children of Bodom! That was much better than expected and I'm sure it'll be a great day today because of this.

Leaving in about 10-20 minutes from now so I'm just sitting here ready to go... Can't wait...

Gaming on

Started playing Fallout 3 today and so far it's a great game. I just got out of the Vault 101 and my character is about to start the real life now. The way the game is created is very well done, with the different options you get when you make your character for example. With all the good reviews and rewards it's been given, I'm sure it'll be this good through the whole game.

I've also played some Guitar Hero 3 lately and been able to complete a few more songs. I'm only playing on Hard and it's about time I finish that level to reach Expert. Sure, I can play on Expert right away, but I rather finish the Hard level first.

Haven't had time to try out the new Mudlet release yet, but I know Heiko has done plenty of work on it since last time. I will do this as fast as I get to speak with him again. It all looks good so far anyhow and I'm sure Mudlet will be one of the best clients out there soon enough.

Tomorrow awaits yet another concert! This time it will be Slipknot! dun dun dun duuuun. We're heading up to Stockholm again and it'll be one fun day once more! Can't wait.

Testing, testing

Been quite busy with Mudlet for the past few days. We're having good progress though! And damn, it's so fast - I think it's the fastest client I've seen so far. We'll see how fast it'll be once all the debug code is out of it and we've made even more speed optimizations.

I'll be starting to build a new healing system for Imperian once we got the basics done, which might happen today if I'm lucky and Heiko (the coder) is able to find time to it.

And to something different... I was able to beat a few more songs on Guitar Hero 3 last night! Felt really good cause I hate not getting any further in that game and getting stuck on some really hard song.

Going to work tomorrow and the whole weekend. Getting tired just thinking about it.. But something that will keep me going is my girlfriend who will get here tomorrow and stay over the whole weekend. Miss you so much!

Work in progress

Today have been a busy day on the testing part. I've been able to compile the latest version of Mudlet and I'm able to use the client to connect to a MUD and using the current features it has to offer. They are not many right now however, but will be more and it grows all the time.

As for me, I'm trying the thing out, finding bugs, reporting and suggesting new ideas or improvements. I will be the one designing the Lua API, so any kind of Lua thing you can do to control Mudlet in the future will be something I've helped with.

I'm really looking forward to see this client improve and I love being part of the whole thing now - this was certainly nothing I expected to happen.

Neat

So I had a talk with the lead coder of Mudlet and after a conversation about what I'd like to see in the client and questions about how it was going and all that - he thought that I'd be a good choice for designing the Lua API.

And here I am now, compiling the programs I need to be able to work with Mudlet. From being a simple user waiting idly at the side and reading the forums for possible progress on the 1.0 beta, I am now part of the team.

For me that's great, as I can help create a new client that everyone can take use of. It'll be a pleasure and I'm really looking forward to get it all started now!

Mudlet and Sakari 2.0, here I come.

Stability

Alright, so I had a little Ubuntu moment again. But now I'm back on my good old WinXP and Ubuntu once again went down the drain. I tend to go back to WinXP cause everything I do on my computer works with no problems and easy configurations, so compared to Ubuntu it's heaven. No more sitting wondering what the hell I need to do to do something I can do in WinXP with a simple click on the mouse.

Right now I'm guiding my three hours for this week. It will be done just before the last home match starts for our local fotball (soccer) team - Kalmar FF! If we win this we are pretty much guaranteed a victory and we'll be swedish champions after the last game that plays out the 9th November! A great achievement for our small city.

My last day off today - going to work tomorrow evening. Back to my crap job... I'm looking around for a new one now though and hope to get something before christmas, because I can't stand working with this anymore...

Oh and I'm pondering once again if I should buy myself a new TV or a new Computer. It'd be nice with a new badass computer, but I don't have that many games that I'd play on it anyway. A new TV and some new console games might be more fun at the moment. Plus being able to watch movies on a 40-42 inch LCD screen is quite nice!

I almost forgot! I downloaded Red Alert yesterday. Westwood have released it as a free game now as part of a celebration of 13 years of success. Have a look at the news and download the discs yourself!

Home again

And so I am back from the trip to Stockholm. Shinedown and Disturbed was great to watch and I'm looking forward to the Slipknot concert we're going to in about a week!

Something I did today, after I got 4 hours sleep after the long car trip, was to install Ubuntu again. This time I upgraded to 8.10 and it's working great so far! Really happy with the switch this time. Yes, I said I wouldn't do it until Mudlet was out, but damnit, I couldn't wait.

So right now I'm just playing around and learning some here and there in the process.

Write quickly!

Any time now we're heading off to Stockholm to watch Disturbed live later tonight. Really looking forward to it and I'm interested in the band playing before them too - Shinedown. Seems like a good band.

To something completely different; Ubuntu 8.10 was released yesterday. I am tempted to delete my WinXP once again and go back to Ubuntu and not go back again. However, I will wait until Mudlet is released in beta to check it out. Because at the moment, I would miss my MUSHclient if I'd switch over to Linux. Even if it works under wine, the plugins doesn't seem to work correct.

Naruto started to get interested today. Kakashi joining team 10 and all, and Naruto himself seems to be ready for battle with his new technique. Just want to see fights now though!

When I get back home I'm going to start working on my mapper again. It's about time I get it done before Mudlet gets out so I can play around with it but also get rid of IMTS and not depend on something someone else wrote. (If we exclude Mudlet of course :P)

Crap weather

This freaking weather is killing me... And in about 45 minutes I have to go out and get wet by the rain and freeze while I'm heading over to my job to work for about 3 hours, then back into the crap weather and head back home.

Just watched the latest Bleach and it's getting pretty interesting now. Can't complain much about it now when there are fights pretty much in every episode since they returned the story again after the crap fillers that showed a very little amount of fights at the end of the whole chapter.

BUT! I'm going to see Disturbed live in Stockholm tomorrow night! Woo! It's me and a couple of friends taking the car to drive up and see the band for the second time this year. Last time was down in Germany at the Rock Am Ring festival.

A bad day...

Today Miagor announced that he is going to quit his awesome updating as Imperian won't hire him. A BAD choice on their hand since Miagor started to code and fix SO MANY bugs, skills and much much more that have been wanted for I don't know how long, as the players have been voting a lot, bought credits and been generally happy about how the game have evolved and felt more alive.

So please Imperian, pay Miagor and give the man something for all the hard work he has done. He deserves it and he will nothing but help the game if he'd continue as he has so far.

Combat Suggestions - Round 2

So there's a second round of combat suggestions going on in Imperian. My own ones were Limb breaks, Aspects, Raiding, Curseward and Plague vibe. The two last ones might not be most important, but they are two that I think should have a bit of look at them. You can find a link to the suggestion thread here and the discussion thread here.

Not only that, but Miagor (our favorite code monkey) is working on the next batch of combat fixes. This time it will include both Warding and Trailblazing and those are the ones I'm looking forward the most. I hope to see them come out this week!

Clocks and Sakari 2.0

So I wake up to my alarm ringing, set for my job in the early morning. But what do I find out? Oh, right... we're turning back the clocks today...... But I'm up anyway, I went to bed early last night so it doesn't matter that much.

To something completely different though - I already mentioned Mudlet as a upcoming MUD client but I forgot to say that if it's fast and as customizable as it sounds, I will be rewriting my Imperian healing system (Sakari) to work on that client. It'll include my own Lua mapper and the super healing ability it has at the moment. I will name that version 2.0 due to all the changes to it.

Mudlet

A new MUD client have been worked on for a while now. The first beta 0.1 release is planned to be out in the early weeks of November. I myself will be trying this new fresh client out and see what it can do.

Have a look at their website if you want to know more or see some screenshots.

I am back

Just because I have nothing better to do, I'll be posting on this blog again! I might switch this blog over to my own website where I can have more fun with it.

Something new, however, will be that I'm not just going to write about Imperian... Because that can be boring at times. Instead I'll be writing about other games, personal thoughts and whatnot. I'm going to change some links to the right and I've already changed the theme for a more fresh feeling.

So hopefully there will be more fun stuff to read than just "Akumu did this now, Sakari progress is going so and so now".

Pause

I'm going to put this blog on ice, because seriously.. who the fuck cares anyway?

The end of hefty times

The tournaments are over! Yes, believe it or not but all this fun we've had has come to an end. I have had a very good time during April, probably one of the best times ever since I started to play Imperian, if not -the- best.

I've gained new friends as we helped each other out on the road to victory and glory. I have lost and I have won. For me, all done to afford wings! And I was successful in that, because at the end I had just enough to get them for Akumu.

And with that, the Tenma chapter in his history could come to an end. As a side note, I really need to start writing down all his history chapters as they are starting to pile up... Anyway, the Tenma chapter ended with a small event where Akumu lost control and was possessed by the spirit called Tenma. A spirit that had once told him it was living inside the glaive, that started to attack those around Akumu.

But with the aide of his friends and allies, the spirit was banished and vanished into the glaive where it came from. Confusion and fear struck those around Akumu as they would never think he would do something like this, and he was told to go through the Demon Flames to cleanse his body from this foul spirit.

Slowly walking into the flames, with his glaive held out in his hands, Akumu was burned alive in the Demon Flames.

Has he arose from Dis, the feeling of bloodthirst, power and strength and left him. Once again he was himself, it would seem. He met his friends again and they agreed that he should be put under some kind of watch and that his glaive should be looked over by a cleric some and then.

With this done, Akumu walked back to his usual quiet spot in Ithaqua to rest and recover from all that had happened. His appearance changed and twisted from the event, with a pair of wings sprung out of his back.

And so ends chapter nine; Tenma, the demonic spirit.

This also means that we're going into chapter ten for Akumu and his history. I will enjoy this one even more than the last one.

... To be continued

A new era

I have taken the pleasure to rewrite the entire system. I got sick and tired of code that wasn't right, that looped wrong, that began to get cluttered and also slow. Yes, Espada was fast but it wasn't perfect. And I don't expect anything less than perfect out of my system.

The name which my system goes under from here on is Sakari. Sakari is japanese and means summit, peak, prime or be at one's best. That is also what this new system try to achieve and be, at its prime.

My two buddies who also used Espada are now using Sakari as well and I hope to see some minor bugs getting fixed as time goes. There are always something wrong in the code when its released after all.

What is new then?
Well, I've change the way triggers and aliases are sent which increased the speed alot. I've rewritten the entire core and made it even faster and more logic than the last one. Blackout curing and also aeon curing is now working as intended. And much much more.

But what about Akumu...?
He is currently doing the events and tournaments of course! Came in fourth in the 3 hour bashing event, with two of the people who were in his group being first and second. Good job everyone who helped! The 5v5 event went quite well, as expected. I hope to see you guys around when the next bracket starts! Icarius, Siath, Victor, Risca... Yes, we're quite a mean team with our rites, vibes, vortex, totem, monk and warden combination. I hope to see some good combat when we meet the other teams! Or we'll beat you all and win.

When april is over, Akumu will be having a level 3 glaive, with a flame and fire theme, in his possession and most likely something else, artifact or maybe miniskill way for a bit more defence.

Other than that, Akumu is still secretary, GR10, Alpha in the Savage clan and is now trying to just be around and gain some experience on hunts but more than anything else, get back in shape!

As on an OOC matter, I have been recieving a bit of lag spikes here and there which have made me freeze for 5-10 seconds sometimes... Nothing that a combatant can do... Therefore I am changing ISP at the beginning of May as I move into a new apartment! Yey me!

I hope that everyone that reads this blog and enjoy watching my combat logs will be more than happy now that Sakari exists. It will bring much more entertainment to my combat, as I won't die to stuff like "I didn't cure cause the system didn't reset my flags right". That might happen as a start, but not when all tests have been made!

Long time no see...

As I've had a short period where I didn't play, I reinstalled the computer and much else, I came to forget about this blog a bit. So now as I walked by, I will write something much like an update!

First of all, I have been working a lot on Espada lately. It has seen many good improvements during the past week. I've change some of the hardcoded parts into being more smart and logical, added a new arena mode and much much else.

A changelog has been created for myself and my two good old users. This will help me track down possible bugs easier if something happens to anything new in Espada. It will also serve as a nice "this is what I have done for you" list for my users.

When it comes to Akumu the character, he has seen some pretty neat improvement. He became secretary and gained GR10 after returning. He is also the new combat head in the Wardens and took over the Savages clan, a clan that he have changed completely, from structure to tasks and so on.

Currently I'm guiding a lot just to get something out of my time of doing nothing. This should make it easier to get all the stuff I want Akumu to have. We might see him swinging around a flame or lightning based glaive some time soon, instead of his current ice glaive.

I am still waiting on all the classleads. Mainly Trailblazing, Warding and Toxins, all of which will make combat a bit more interesting for me. Another salve toxin, double metrazol being possible to use when I target a limb with qjab, more resistance against an element, autoreheat which means yet another salve stack and perhaps a tad more damage, thrust might become useful and so on and so on... Can't wait!

Well, I think that is enough for now. I will continue to improve Espada until there is NOTHING to do on it. Something that can be almost impossible as the game itself evolve and so does my ideas and thoughts, believe it or not! haha

Updates

Espada is stable now and working just fine. However it will always be a project and will probably never get into the state of COMPLETE, NO MORE NEED TO ADD NEW STUFF.

I am very happy about how good Espada works now though!

Akumu is coming along quite well too. I've been working on some history that I will make public sooner or later. His behaviour and goals have changed and as he train more combat, he'll become more dangerous for his enemies.

I've had a good day overall. Tweaked Espada, made a new fresh install of windows xp, started with the karate again and am just thrilled about the next coming rounds of classleads and how they say it'll be done in 2 weeks or so! Can't wait for Trailblazing and Warding... Those will be very nice!
